Math
When we return from Thanksgiving we will begin studying time.
MGSE2.MD.7 Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
Second graders expand their work with telling time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest hour or half-hour in Grade 1 to telling time to the nearest five minutes using a.m. and p.m.
Writing
Our focus continues to be on informational writing. We will continue to write informational books. We will learn how to include research, write openings and closings, and add details to our chapters.
On Thursday we will get a chance to go read some third grade informational books. Hopefully this will help our students with their own writing.
On Tuesday we are going to be doing something called Write Score. The students will have a whole class period to write an informational essay. These essays will be sent away and scored by an independent company.
This will give us a great idea of how the students are doing in their writing and what each student needs to continue working on.
Grammar- We will spend two week learning about plural nouns and how to write each different type of plural noun correctly
Social Studies.
This week we began studying the Creek. Next week we will learn more about the Creek lifestyle and begin learning about the Cherokee people. We will also learn about Sequoyah.
Reading
Our focus for December will be on supporting details. Now that students can identify the main idea of what they are reading, I will teach them how to find the details in the article that tell them more about the main idea.
Happy Thanksgiving!
