I can’t believe how busy we have been this week! All our different projects and experiences have cause our schedule to be a little funny this week, but the kids did a great job of going with the flow and working hard.
Important dates- Some dates to remember for the last few weeks of school

May 4- Spring Showcase- Come check out the lab reports we have been writing and see our experiments up close. You will also be able to visit the book fair.
May 5- Book fair preview day
May 10- Life Cycles quiz- a study guide will come home next week
May 10- Book fair buying day
Math
This week we finished up the multiplication standards for this unit. The kids did a great job and they all showed an understanding of multiplication. Over the next few weeks we will talk about odd and even numbers, begin working on some different ways to solve word problems using multiplication and some data review
Science
We getting ready to begin the planning portion of our garden. Students have learned a lot about life cycles and done a lot of research about the plants in this area and what we need to create garden.
The beginning of next week they will plan the garden and at the end of next week we will plant our gardens.
We will be building planting boxes for the gardens to go into. Ms. May has a few volunteers that are going to help build the boxes. If you are interested in helping out as well let me know and I can get you the information on what we need to do. We have all the materials we just need help with the building.
Writing
This week we focused on procedure writing. The kids worked in groups to write procedures on how to build a catapult. They saw how important it was to be very specific in their steps and how important it is to write all the steps down. On Friday we had a catapult competition to see which groups design went the farthest. On Monday students will write conclusions about who won, why they won, how their catapult did, and what they would do to improve their design.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will work on getting our lab reports ready to show off at the Spring Showcase Wednesday evening.
Thursday and Friday we will begin the last bend of the unit where the students will take what they know about informational writing and write a book based on scientific facts.
In grammar students will work on a noun review choice board.
Reading
We have finished our book club books! Students will work on projects related to their books, answer questions about their books and choose the next book they will be reading next week.
Have a great weekend!
